The Growing Needs of Our Schools

Marine Elementary, built 68 years ago, faces space constraints that hinder essential services. The school lacks an adequate media center, nurse’s office and collaboration space, which are crucial for an up-to-date educational environment.

Similarly, Triad Middle School, originally opened in 1959 as Triad High School, struggles with aging infrastructure that no longer meets today’s educational standards. The 945 students at TMS are forced to navigate overcrowded hallways during passing periods, creating not only congestion but also potential safety risks in the event of an emergency evacuation.

The TMS cafeteria is too small to accommodate students efficiently, requiring five separate lunch periods. These lunch periods begin as early as 10:20 a.m. and extend until 1:30 p.m., significantly impacting the flow of the school day.

When Triad High School opened in 1999, it was designed with plans for an additional classroom wing and a dedicated auditorium. Unfortunately, those plans were never fully realized. Over the years, a cafetorium has served as a temporary solution, but the space has become too small for our growing student body and community events.

Our students and community now require:

  • An Auditorium: A dedicated space to properly showcase our talented fine and performing arts students.

  • A Dedicated Lunch Space: A cafeteria large enough to serve all students in a timely manner.

  • A Large Gathering Space: A venue for important school events such as parent orientations, honors nights, and other community gatherings.

  • Expanded CTE and More Science Classrooms: More room for Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and modern science labs to support hands-on learning.

Building for the Future

It's time to address these long-standing issues and ensure our schools are equipped to meet the needs of today's students and future generations. By expanding and updating our facilities, we can create a safer, more functional, and inspiring environment for learning and community engagement.
