Recruiting Bus Drivers

Recruiting Bus Drivers
Posted on 09/08/2017
BussesProviding transportation services for Triad students has become more challenging each school year. Districts across the state have been dealing with a substantial reduction in transportation funding and a decrease in the bus driver workforce. Triad continues to be most interested in maintaining its own fleet of large and small school buses and employing qualified drivers.

The district continues to closely monitor transportation expenses in all areas especially the number of trips and number of students using the service. Beginning the 2017-2018 school year, students are paying for a portion of transportation costs to extracurricular events. The district also eliminated a couple routes this year which is not an easy task when covering 121 square miles twice in the morning and twice in the afternoon. These changes cause some routes to be longer and has eliminated several bus stops in more densely populated areas.

The District is in need of your assistance in recruiting bus drivers to work for Triad. Triad runs a fleet of 34 large buses and two small buses. Daily the district transports approximately 2600 students to and from school and events. The transportation department operates 26 regular school day routes and offers a variety of different trips that take place during the school day and after school hours.

Driving a school bus is great employment for excellent drivers who love kids, want to supplement their income, and enjoy flexible hours. Triad employs regular school route drivers, standby drivers and substitute drivers. Increasing our bus driver workforce would mean better service for our students and families.
