Snow Days?

You may find yourself asking… Do we still have snow days?

There used to be a simple answer — if inclement weather conditions in our area created safety issues with either traveling to or from school, students would get a day off from school to be made up at the end of the school year. Now, with our remote learning capabilities, students are likely to find our district listed as having an e-Learning Day.

In the event our area’s weather causes hazardous road conditions tomorrow or later in the week, the Triad District will conduct e-Learning Days that allow for students and staff to learn and work from home.  While schools will be closed, students will follow the schedules below from home.  Attendance will be taken by the students’ teachers in the morning at the Kindergarten through 5th grades and it will be taken hourly at the 6th through 12th grades.  Students who are absent will be allowed to make-up work missed following the school’s procedures on make-up work outlined in the Student Handbook.

Schedules:

Pre-kindergarten - 5th Grades

School day begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 2:00 p.m.  The students’ teachers will share the daily schedule using SeeSaw. The students will not be expected to be online throughout the entire school day. There will be scheduled live instruction along with time set aside for independent practice. Each teacher will share their schedule after taking attendance at the beginning of the school day so parents and students will understand the expectations for the school day.

6th - 8th Grades

TMS teachers and students will be using the schedule that is currently used for our on campus days. Each teacher will have a Google Meet for the time of their class with the expectation that students attend their class just like they would do in school. Students are expected to login to the Google Meet at the beginning of each hour for attendance and the instructions for each of their 5 classes. The times are as follows:

1st Hour 8:00-8:50

2nd Hour 8:50-9:40

3rd Hour 9:40-10:30

4th Hour 10:30-11:20

5th Hour 11:20-12:15

Band - Technique classes will take place during P.E. for the students who would have been “in-person” that day. Technique classes do not meet for the students who would have been learning remotely that day. Those students should log onto their PE teacher’s Google Meet.

Full Band and Chorus Rehearsals will occur via Google Meet at the following times:

12:15 - 6th Grade Chorus and 7th Grade Band

12:45 - 7th Grade Chorus and 8th Grade Band

1:15 - 8th Grade Chorus and 6th Grade Band

9th - 12th Grades

High school students should log into their Google Meet virtual classroom at the start time indicated for each period. The teacher will provide instruction for 20-25 minutes and then provide independent practice where students are able to ask questions for each period. The 8th hour includes programs such as Model UN, Band, and EB Athletic PE.
